Bicara Titian Budaya
In collaboration with My Performing Arts Agency (MyPAA), Titian Budaya hosted Bicara Titian Budaya on 12 Dec 2015.
Bicara Titian Budaya underlines the spirit of partnership, collaborations and co-operation between the two countries through a 1-day dialogue which explores cross-cultural expressions, and highlight shared cultural and entertainment traditions and icons familiar to both countries.
Here are highlights from that excellent day.
T’was an amazing showcase when Serunding was performed twice at Black Box, Publika on 12 Dec 2015. Here are some photos for those who missed a great performance. We also had a Q&A session between the playwright and performer with the audience.
Written by Ahmad Musta’ain Khamis
Directed by Lim Yu-Beng
Performed by Aidli ‘Alin’ Mosbit
First produced by TheatreWorks (Singapore) in partnership with the South East Community Development Council, Singapore
Winner of TheatreWorks’ 24-Hour Playwriting Competition 2010 (Open Category), this one-woman play stirs to life the voice of Safiah. A Malay homemaker, Safiah’s belief as a devout Muslim and parental expectations falls into conflict with her children; she also suffers tedious ties with her mother-in-law ‘Sofea Jane’. Told through humour, food and many phone calls, Serunding draws us to the heart and pain of a mother’s love. A spicy sweet expression of the Singapore family today. Performed in English.
The Official Preview and Inauguration of Titian Budaya
Titian Budaya is proud to have the presence of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Razak at the official preview and inauguration of Titian Budaya’s Next Door @ Publika on the 20th of November 2015.
Here are some highlights of the day.
